Jordan Gerling
Jordan grew up in Honey Grove, Texas, a rural town in the northeast corner of the state. Here, he spent his formative years watching his parents practice construction and interior design while restoring their family home. Eventually, he was able to help his family in the restoration, gaining an early understanding of how things are put together and a lasting interest in design. These hands-on experiences, combined with a childhood obsession with building toys and sketching, naturally led him down the path to a degree in architecture.
Jordan began studying at the University of Arkansas in 2021. Though initially daunted by the demands of his first-year courses, architecture quickly became something that he enjoyed experimenting with. During his time at the university, he has continued to seek out hands-on learning opportunities. He particularly enjoyed working with Somewhere Studio on a pavilion for Exhibit Columbus and contributing to high-end residential construction projects with iNSITE Construction, where he honed his skills in finish carpentry and metal framing.
Now entering his final year, Jordan has found the close-knit studio environment at the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design to be a meaningful continuation of the small-town community he grew up in. At the same time, his architectural education has taken him far beyond Texas, with enriching travel experiences in cities like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, St. Louis, and Rome.
In the summer of 2025, Jordan joined STOKE as the company’s first intern. When he’s not working or at school, you can find Jordan tinkering on his car, riding his mountain bike, or playing Halo with his brothers.
